Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is understood to be a form of depression caused by the lack of sunlight during the winter. Although there are medications to combat SAD, we can also use meditation to overcome this seasonal disorder.
Each day, schedule 30 minutes for yourself. Find a comfortable place, and surround yourself with pillows. You can sit or lie down, whichever is more comfortable. Place candles around your area, and use mirrors to reflect the lights toward you. Play your favorite "summertime" music in the background- something that brings back memories of sunny days. Picture yourself lounging on a beach, palying baseball, or doing some other summertime activity you have enjoyed. Remember that the changing seasons on the Wheel of the Year promise things will change, and the dark times will be overcome by the light. |
