Addictions take many forms. A person can be addicted to a substance, to food, to sex, to gaming, to sleeping, and a number of other stimuli. What's more, a person can become addicted to certain patterns of thinking, such as paranoia, pessimism, or victim consciousness; or to emotions, such as anxiety, anger, or sadness. As magical practitioners, we must be extremely aware of these patterns, because dependencies of any type will hinder personal freedom.
To help break addictions, carry the herbs rue and yarrow, some sand, salt, and the stone amethyst on you in a small sachet bag. When you feel these addictive patterns rising up, bring your focus to thte bag and "breathe" in its essense. Become aware of yourself, your body, and your mind. Take the necessary steps both in the moment and in life to conquer any dependencies. |
