When you're in need of guidance beyond what the ego can offer, tap into the power of your dreams. Before bed, state your request: In my dreams tonight, please show me what I need to know regarding (briefly describe your situation). The next morning, before doing anything else, journal everything you remember from your dream, even if a detail seems irrelevant. If you can't recall the entire dream, that's okay; capture what you can. Once you start writing, previously forgotten aspects of the dream will often emerge. Journal your interpretations, keeping in mind that, like a tarot card, there isn't one right way to understand your dream.
If you're feeling stuck, ask yourself:
- What are you trying to do in the dream, and who or what helps or hinders you?
- What insights arise if you view every character in the dream as an aspect of yourself?
- How do you feel about the different characters or situations in the dream? When have you felt this way before in waking life?
- Choose one character, symbol, or setting in the dream and free-associate. What does it make you think of ?
