LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Journey into the Self

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

As the veil continues to thin and we move ever closer to Samhain, it is the perfect time for journeying deeper into yourself. Don't be afraid. Finding what lurks beneath your surface may seem daunting if it's not the type of thing you do regularly. Clearly, this is where your imagination, creativity, memories, sensuality, spirituality, and ancestors are most accessible. You need only three things for this work: a piece of copal, a lighter, and charcoal, which will be put into a censer or on a fireproof plate. Copal is a visionary tool used for shapeshifting, vision quests, and more.

You need to go outside. Make sure you're dressed comfortably. Wear a ceremonial robe or relaxed clothing. Stand or sit, whichever you prefer. Light the charcoal, and once it is white-hot, add the copal. Copal lets out plumes of copious smoke. The smoke will tell you stories. It will open up your mind, challenging your perceptions along the way. Listen closely and watch even more closely. Take this journey into yourself with the aid of this mystical, compelling, truthful, and powerful herb.
