Spell: Summon a Muse

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Modern Witches and Pagans are drawn to a variety of ancient gods, ancestors, and pantheons. The Greco-Roman myths hold a special place for many of us.

Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, is the mother of the nine Muses in ancient Greek mythology. They are as follows:
Calliope: Epic poetry
Clio: History
Erato: Erotic and choral poetry
Euterpe: Music and song
Melpomene: Tragedy and performance art
Polyhymnia: Hymns, religious poetry, and miming
Terpsichore: Light verse and dance
Thalia: Comedy and epic poetry
Urania: Astronomy and astrology

Before beginning a creative endeavor, meditate and speak to a Muse. Create your own spell by offering them something, such a song, a piece of writing, or a work of art. This will help start the communication process.

Whomever you feel "called upon to call," their assistance may very well prove invaluable, and even longlasting, in your life's creative journey.
