Spell: Magickal Hops

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Let’s embrace Celtic Vine Moon with an incredible vine: hops. Celtic Moon brings awareness of emotions. It helps us get more balanced. It’s a time to refine our ambitions and goals. We’re engaging the energy of hops not only because we’re in Vine Moon but also because it’s the first day of Oktoberfest in Munich.

Today most everyone is familiar with hops thanks to small beer companies. Hops are a time-honored, multipurpose witch’s medicine beloved for their strong influence on the nerves. They have a relaxing effect on the mood, which we need during Vine Moon. Moreover, as you do your spells, being level-headed helps.

For this spell you will need:
* 2 cups purified or spring water
* 2 tablespoons hops
* A teacup with a cover
* Honey and lemon (optional)

Boil the water. Rub the hops flowers in your hands, gently blowing in your intent as they fall into the cup. (This releases the herb’s medicinal qualities too.) Cool the water for one to two minutes, then pour over the hops. Place the cover on the teacup. Steep for seven to nine minutes, then strain. Add optional items if desired.
