Spell: Fresh From the Garden

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

One of the best things about this time of year is the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. If you have a garden, you are beginning to reap the bounty of your labors, but even if you don’t, there are farmers’ markets and CSAs (community-supported agriculture, where people buy a share of a farmer’s crop and receive a box of seasonal produce throughout the harvest season). Many grocery stores carry local produce, too. Whether you grow it yourself or simply enjoy what others have grown, remember that in eating fresh food, we connect not only with nature but also with all our ancestors who took joy in this abundance. Rather than taking it for granted, set aside a few minutes in every meal to eat mindfully, with gratitude for nature’s gifts. Go out of your way to include fresh produce in your diet, and don’t forget to say thank you!
