Spell: Celebrate Cultural Diversity

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Today is Cinco de Mayo, the day commemorating the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. In the United States, the holiday has become one of celebrating Mexican-American culture.

It is very easy to form misconceptions about other cultures due to misinformation or a lack of knowledge. Today, celebrate cultural diversity by learning a bit more about Mexican- American culture. Perhaps listen to some traditional Mexican music and learn about the artist, or find a cookbook of traditional Mexican recipes and try your hand at making one. While you undertake your adventure in learning, safely light a yellow candle on your altar in an act of summoning inspiration and knowledge. As you light it, say the following simple enchantment:

Candle burning bright, illuminate the
beauty of diversity this day and night!

Be sure to extinguish the candle.
