Today is Saint Vincent's Day, a saint associated with wine and all workers related to the vineyards throughout the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits regions of France. The festival was an important one, and great effort was put by all into the celebration, as it was said that the year's grape harvest would mirror the success (or failure) of the festival. Grapes are associated magically with fertility and prosperity and thus abundance. Today, pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine (or non-alcoholic sparkling juice), light a candle, raise your glass in a toast, and chant:
"Saint Vincent, to you this day we call upon To allow our abundance to continue on. From the blessed grapes we do harvest sacred wine. A blessing of abundance we do ask from the divine! Blessed be. So mote it be." Now, enjoy your sacred libation! |
