On this day in 1949, the first daytime-television soap opera was broadcast. The genre was so named because most of the programs' sponsors were soap companies and the shows' plots contained a level of melodrama often seen in traditional operas. The shows contained no traditional opera-and neither will this spell! However, taking a cue from the inspiration for the genre name, gather your favorite natural soap and head for the shower. Chant the following(or sing it operatically, if you'd prefer) while visualizing the soap energetically cleansing you of all detrimental energies:
"Suds and lather, upon my body gather. Energy of detriment and disarray, May this soap wash away! Swirling, whirling, down the drain, You shall not cause any pain! Blessed be-so mote it be!" |
