The night before Halloween is dedicated to the "trick" element of "trick or treat." Unfortunately this sometimes turns into some really destructive activities, like arson. Less damaging acts, like toilet-papering a house, are still disrespectful of the targets.
To counteract this harmful trend, spend some time today showing kindness toward others. Here are some ideas: Get some friends together and plan to go out the next day, if possible, to volunteer to clean up messes left by the less scrupulous. Or do some general litter pickup and other helpful acts. If you see someone committing vandalism, call the police. Give them as much information as you can-descriptions of perpetrators, license plates, and so on. The victims will appreciate the help. If you have time and your neighborhood is safe enough, organize a family-friendly block party, to help with visibility and to get to know your neighbors. |
