Today begins the festival of Ganesha, the four-armed elephant Hindu god of wisdom and good fortune. Considered to be the god of "everybody," he is beloved and worshipped across many Hindu sects, and his festival is celebrated worldwide. Ganesha resides in the base chakra, a foundation and support for all other chakras.
Over the next ten days, dress your altar in red cloth and flowers, and place upon it a color picture of Ganesha in all his jeweled finery. Include him in your daily rituals and offer praise for his benevolence. If you wish, partake of foods containing coconut. Be on the lookout for positive change in your life. |
