Larentia (one of her possible names) was the Roman guardian of "good ghosts"-a protector of families. She was called the Mother of Ghosts. Offerings were made to her to protect the beloved dead and spirits of slaves. Create an altar with pictures or objects to represent those you wish to ask Larentia to protect-it could be a departed family member or friend, or someone you don't know-a historical figure or personal hero. Light white candles on the altar and use this chant, or write these words on a piece of paper and place it on the altar:
Departed ones be safe and rest, Your spirit be forever blessed. |
