Color of the day: Red
Incense of the day: Ginger Today is Mardi Gras, a fandangous festival most famously celebrated in New Orleans. Although originally inspired by Christianity, Mardi Gras is really an interfaith celebration, combining motifs from many different religious and magical traditions. Customs include parades with a king and queen, parties, masked balls, and the eating of cinnamon "king cakes" topped with tricolored sugars. The three colors associated with Mardi Gras represent justice (purple), faith (green), and power (gold). Tap into the tremendous energy of this festival by wearing one or more of the colors. To manifest all three qualities, braid together three ribbons or cords; the resulting braid can be used to wear a pendant, or hung over your altar. If you want to go all out, throw a Mardi Gras party for your magical friends and raise energy for justice, faith, and power. |
