Color of the day: Blue
Incense of the day: Jasmine This is the time when the veil that separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest. Pagans around the world embrace these rare days by remembering their ancestors now. Garlands are an ancient decoration, made of botanical items, that capture the magic of the seasons. To create a remembrance garland, string pieces of cockscomb, bay leaves, cranberries, orange peels, dried lemon slices, cinnamon stick and allspice. Begin tonight by soaking the bay, cranberries, cinnamon, allspice, and orange in Florida water or Kananga water (substitute plain water if these specialty waters are unavailable). As soon as you have time on the next day, cut a suitable length of waxed linen or hemp string. Begin the strand (and end it) with cranberries, and create your own pattern with the remaining botanicals. Place it in the entrance-way to your home. A remembrance garland is a fragrant invitation to your ancestors and departed loved ones. |
