Today is Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, from whom the holiday gets its name. Whether or not you were raised a Christian, you probably celebrate this time with gift giving. It is said that three wise men traveled a long distance to bring the new child gifts, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money on frankincense and myrrh in order to celebrate the holiday. While it is always nice to have a fancy wrapped box under your Christmas (or Yule) tree, remember that there are other gifts we have to give. The gift of love is priceless, as is the gift of time and energy to spend with those who need us. Acceptance, friendship, and shared knowledge are also gifts. Remember that this holiday isn’t about who can buy the biggest present, but rather how present you are with those you love. |
