On May 3, 1978, Sun Day was established by President Jimmy Carter. It is now recognized as World or International Sun Day. It is a day devoted to solar energy and the power it has to propel life. Now is the time to honor our sun and its life-giving energies. Decorate your home and your altar with items relating to the sun. Use the colors orange and yellow in the form of sunflowers or daisies if available. You can also include oranges, sunstones, or agates in your decor. At sunrise or sunset, honor the sun by lifting your arms to the sky to absorb the radiant energy. As you do so, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and slowly exhale. Repeat this action several times, feeling the energy of the sun increase the element of fire within you. |
