With the days growing longer as we approach the summer solstice, June is a delightful time to perform some night magic, even if you aren’t a huge fan of the dark. As I age, my night vision grows worse, and often the darkness leaves me feeling more vulnerable to falling. It’s been a long, dark winter. Tonight, take back the night by going for an evening walk. Sunset will occur today at 8:52 p.m. here in the Eastern time zone on the north side of Lake Ontario. Only a few short months ago, it would have been completely dark hours earlier. Depart on your walk in time to be outdoors and facing west as the sun is setting. Pause, give thanks for the long days of light, and take back the night hours as yours to enjoy for the next few weeks. Then turn around and walk back home in the growing dusk. |
