Early in spring, sap rises. The flowers begin to bloom. Trees and bushes open their buds to reveal fresh green leaves. The first warm breezes bring the world back to life as the Sun heats the dark earth. Yet winter is not quite out of reach. A single cold snap can sheathe the world in ice, killing the tender young plants.
When a frost alert comes, start by covering plants with a frost cloth or layer of mulch wherever possible. Then say this chant over plants you wish to protect: Sun's ray and fire's glow, Shield tender blooms and leaves From frost and winds that blow- This blanket magic weaves. Visualize the sunlight condensing into a layer of golden cloth that drapes over your plants. Remove it the next morning after the danger of frost has passed. |
