Incense of the day: Coriander Winter Solstice is almost upon us, and festivities abound. Yet those celebrating birthdays around Yule and Christmas often feel neglected. Winter holidays take center stage, and birthdays may get lost in the shuffle. If someone in your family has a birthday at this time of year, be sure and make it special this year. Bake a solar birthday cake, and share the joy of the solstice season. Sunny orange or lemon cake topped with lemony yellow frosting is a perfect way to celebrate the Sun's rebirth. Cover the frosted cake with tiny white candles, and decorate the table with evergreens and oranges. Brew up a pot of tea with cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and cloves, and offer tarot readings. The solstice itself is a birthday party, after all. |
