Prepare a Porta-Pagan

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Honeysuckle

We magical folx often find ourselves needing to divine, cast spells, or work magic at unplanned times or when we're far away from our magical workspace. Plus, we may not feel comfortable setting up an altar or working spellcraft in public, or carrying materials with us. You can remedy some of these situations by creating a Porta-Pagan.

What's a Porta-Pagan? It's a miniature set of magical tools in a small, sturdy container. Because it's small, it can be carried in a pocket, purse, glove box, or any other easy-to-conceal space. Start your Porta-Pagan with a small metal container, like one of those hinged mint or tea containers. Fill it with small craft items like these:

  • Small altar cloth
  • Birthday cake or tealight candles
  • Matches
  • Tiny glass vials of salt, dried herbs, charged water, etc.
  • Tiny mirror for scrying
  • Seashells, stones, or crystals
  • Miniature dice
  • Miniature Tarot cards
  • Small/toy athame (symbolic)

Vary the items as needed. With your Porta-Pagan, you'll be ready to work magic incongruously and on the spot.
