POSTED UNDER Cat, Home, Love, AND MORE

Poetic, Musical Love

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Ivy

In one of the subplots of The Merchant of Venice, Jessica (Shylock's daughter) elopes with Lorenzo. It's true love. In act 5, they are sitting together and gazing up at the sky. Lorenzo's speech is one of Shakespeare's most evocative:
How sweet the moonlight
sleeps upon this bank!
Here will we sit and let
the sounds of music
Creep in our ears: soft
stillness and the night
Become the touches of sweet harmony.
Sit, Jessica. Look how
the floor of heaven
Is thick inlaid with patines
of bright gold:
[…]
Such harmony is in immortal souls;
[…]
Come, [musicians] ho! and
wake Diana with a hymn!
With sweetest touches pierce
your mistress’ ear,
And draw her home with music.

Set your intention to reach that level of poetic love. Choose a moonlit night, sit somewhere romantic and beautiful with the one you love, and gaze up at the sky. Play romantic music. Recite Lorenzo's speech. Draw poetry, music, and love down from heaven.
