Erasing Racism "Peace by Piece"

Color of the day:  Gray
Incense of the day:  Hyssop

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On this day of remembrance for both the revolutionary person and the freedom he helped inspire, it’s good to examine our own internal racism, no matter our ethnic or cultural origins.

Today, take time to reflect on your own viewpoints concerning racism. Contemplate how deeply embedded racist ideas truly are worldwide. We are not free from these, as racist ideas of all varieties are so insidious that we often don’t even recognize our own!

To add a small light of hope to the progression of erasing racism around the world, sit silently in front of a small black, tan, or brown candle safely burning. Silently ask the universe to help you better understand racism. Dedicate yourself to more deeply researching these issues.

When ready, ignite and deeply focus on a pink candle. (The black, tan, or brown candle represents people of color, while the pink candle symbolizes peace and equanimity.)

Declare eight times:
Racism buried deep in our minds, I
hereby realize and banish all kinds.
The world must unite through
power and might; judgments so
wrong must transform into right.

Allow the supervised candles to safely burn out on their own.
