Summer Syrup for Sipping

Color of the day:  Topaz
Incense of the day:  Bay laurel

It can be a challenge during the hot days of summer to stay motivated and hydrated, but nothing nourishes like mango-infused honey syrup. Filled with medicinal spices and succulent fruits, honey infusions are a delicious way to stay healthy one spoonful at a time.

You will need:

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

1 cinnamon stick

1 teaspoon annatto seed powder

3 teaspoons cardamom powder, freshly crushed

2 cups mashed mango

4 tablespoons lemon juice

4 tablespoons orange juice

2 cups honey

A 33.75-ounce glass bottle with a rubber swing top

In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients. Cook on medium high heat until the syrup begins to reduce and reaches 230 degrees F. Then remove the thick elixir from the heat and let it cool to 190 degrees F. When ready, decant the syrup (including the vanilla bean and the cinnamon stick) into the glass bottle. Store in the pantry and add the syrup to any smoothie, lemonade, or carbonated water to celebrate vitality with all things mango this summer.
