LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Practical Bibliomancy

Color of the day:  Crimson
Incense of the day:  Clove

The ancient practice of bibliomancy is divination by means of any book. In this day of PDFs and e-readers, handheld books are something of a treasure.

First, have a question in mind. This should not be a yes-no question, but rather something into which you wish to gain insight. For example, “I wish to gain insight into my class presentation tomorrow.”

Using your intuition, grab three books from your shelf, as well as a pen and paper. Sit at a desk and meditate on the issue.

When ready, speak to the first book:

I wish to gain insight into _____.

Close your eyes and open the book at random. Allow your finger to rest anywhere on the page. Open your eyes and write down the sentence that you’ve landed upon. Repeat this with the other two books, and see how the abstract messages lend insight into your question.
