Sun Day, Sun Day!

Color of the day:  Gold
Incense of the day:  Marigold

The sun is a solar deity, honored since the beginning of human time. It’s 93 million miles away, yet its presence is undeniably felt and depended upon. We mark our days and years by the sun, some people even choosing to call their birthdays “solar returns.” Countless civilizations have had rituals, rites, and beliefs that embody and honor the sun. The sun is self-sufficient and fiercely independent. Its light brightens the darkest corners and chases shadows away.

Today, in honor of the sun, anoint a yellow candle with olive oil and sprinkle it with gold glitter. Place the candle in a fireproof holder and light it.

Gaze into the candle flame and reflect upon the powerful light of the sun. Think about how the sun’s light shines into and upon the darkness of space, illuminating our world with grace.

Allow your candle to burn down safely or snuff out the flame.
