Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Ivy L’Shanah Tova! It’s Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Traditionally, it’s a time to forgive and be forgiven, to release old challenges and mistakes, and to bless the fresh new cycle ahead. A particularly magical Rosh Hashanah custom involves dipping apple slices in honey to fill the year with sweetness. The apple relates to health, as well as the feminine aspect of God, known as the Shekhinah. The honey symbolizes the sweet blessings we hope the Shekhinah will shower upon us. To create your own version of this ritual, slice an apple. Say a gratitude blessing over the apple in a way that feels powerful for you. Dip a slice in honey and take a bite. Then speak to God/dess from your heart, respectfully requesting an incredibly sweet, healthy, and joyful new cycle. You can do this alone or share the ritual with a partner or group. |
