Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Rue Lammas is the most important day in my personal ritual calendar (the anniversary of my initiation), along with being the first harvest. Prepare your ritual space, and have offerings of fresh-baked cornbread, grapes, and beer. Cast a circle with your wand, athame, or hand. Start in the north or the east. Use your tool to send out energy, defining the sacred circle you will use, turning clockwise until you end up in the direction in which you began. Then invite the directions, starting with the direction in which you began casting, moving clockwise. You can use specific attributes for each direction, such as north/earth, east/air, south/fire, and west/water. It can be something as simple as this: Welcome, spirits of the north, element Invite Lugh (if appropriate) and your patron deities. Take time to center and connect with your core as deeply as you can. Thank the deities for their guidance and help during this cycle. Don’t ask for anything; just listen. Offer libations to the deities. Place your hands on the ground, sending any excess energy back into the earth and feeling its stability. Close the circle with the tool you used to cast it, starting in the direction you began (north or east) but moving counterclockwise, thanking each direction for being there and imagining the energy of the circle retracting into the tool. Write down what you intuited from the spirits, and take the next few weeks to consider, in daily meditations, how to take the actions they advise. |
