LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

A Bedtime Spell for Renewal

Color of the day:  Gray
Incense of the day:  Ivy

It was Edgar Allan Poe who penned the words, "Sleep, those little slices of death..." It is interesting to think that a part of our consciousness dies(alongside many physical cells) during the process of sleep. For those of us who function with one foot in each world, as the witchy saying goes, it's of utmost importance to get proper and healthy sleep.
When you prepare for a night's sleep, see that a bowl of lavender sits next to you. Place a special amethyst stone in the center. Place another lavender/amethyst bowl in the westernmost quadrant of your room. Take three slow sniffs of the lavender next to you before setting the bowl down. Then lie down, cover up, close your eyes, and cross your arms across your chest (in the traditional Corpse Pose).
Say aloud three times:

"As I lay me down to rest, I ask for renewal through the Gates of the West."

Visualize yourself surrounded in a lavender hue, and note how you feel when you awaken.
