Galileo, the Italian astronomer and visionary, was born on this day in 1564. He spent years of his life under house arrest, accused of heresy by the Pope upon reporting his celestial observations.
It may be a chilly night, but that makes stargazing even better. Bundle up, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and head out to spend a little time gazing up at the stars. Contemplate the conviction that it took for Galileo to challenge the ideas of his time about the cosmos, even through presecution. He found truths and insights in the night sky.
