Winter Sanctuary

Color of the day:  Coral
Incense of the day:  Thyme

The summer sun has fled and night frosts have taken a toll. Leaves and acorns are falling, and it's time to put your little bit of earth to bed for the winter.
Before putting all the leaves and stalks on your compost heap, consider leaving some in the yard. They will be welcome shelter to our animal and faerie friends. Leaves afford warmth and protection to chipmunks and squirrels. Branches left to dry over winter make excellent kindling for next summer's fire pit. Withered annuals provide feed to rabbits. Announce your intentions so the wee folk will know they have a winter retreat. Bless the area, content in your love of mother earth.
