Hot Toddy for a Cold or Flu

Color of the day:  Topaz
Incense of the day:  Honeysuckle

The winter months find us fending off invading hordes of cold and flu viruses. If you fall victim, brew up my medicine woman-grandmother's hot toddy for soothing relief.
To make, put a thin "coin" of fresh, peeled ginger and healthy dollops of lemon juice and honey into a warm mug. Add a shot of bourbon or brandy, fill with boiling water, and sip while breathing the steam.
The heat opens and relaxes airways and loosens phlegm, while ginger-a warming spice-relieves chills and stimulates energy movement through the chakras. Lemon juice kills germs and has antioxidant properties that help it fight infections and contribute to cell health and repair. Together, honey and lemon reduce fecer and chills. Honey furnishes trace nutrients, has antibacterial and antiviral properties, and heightens feelings of well-being. The alcohol relaxes the body, quiets the mind, and induces sleep. Drink this before bedtime for a good night's rest and recovery.

History & Lore
If Saint Paul's day be faire and cleare,
It doth betide a happy yeare;
But if by chance it then should rain,
It will make deare all kinds of graine;
And if ye clouds make dark ye skie,
Then neats and fowles this year shall die;
If blustering winds do blow aloft,
Then wars shall trouble ye realm full oft.
