POSTED UNDER Moon

Change and New Tasks

Color of the day:  Maroon
Incense of the day:  Cedar

The New Moon is traditionally a time of new beginnings. Think of something you'd like to start, or a change you would like to make in your life. Write this on a piece of paper. Find a black plate or other dish and place your paper on it. On a black (or white) candle, carve either the word begin or the word change on the outside of the candle, depending on your need. Place the candle on top of your paper. Ideally, as the candle burns, wax will spill down to cover the paper. As you light the candle, visualize the change or new beginning you seek. Recite the following chant:
New Moon candle, as you burn,
Help me with this task.
Soon your bright light will return,
Bringing what I ask.

Allow the candle to burn until it's finished-this may take several days of re-lighting, depending on how much time you have. When it's complete, free the candle from the plate and break off the hardened puddle of wax and your paper. Bury these if you have a place to do so, or discard.
