The Autumn Equinox is a few days away. It's time to be thinking about putting together a ritual of celebration for Mabon. The first part of creating a ritual is to write a statement of purpose. This is to voice the intention of your rite and perhaps what you hope to accomplish. It can be a dedication of sorts, or it can be an introduction that is as simple as a general welcome. You may choose to use astrological correspondences or simply describe the energy that is present at this time. Here is an example of what you might say as a possible statement of purpose for Mabon:

The wheel turns once again. It is Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, and we stand in reflection of our fruitfulness this past year. What do we have to be grateful for? As the Earth moves into perfect balance with the Sun and the dark shadows light, we ask our Lord who prepares to leave the yellowing wood and spiral into the caves of Samhain, and our Lady who's love is timeless, tho' she prepares for the sleep of winter, to let us embrace this night with our understanding of beauty, grace, and love. Allow these qualities of Libra's equilibrium to infuse each one of us so that we may find our way as we move quietly inward, toward the twilight of Autumn's song.
