Color of the day: Yellow Incense of the day: Cedar Incense of the day: Cedar Over the last fifty years, television has provided us with many game shows in which the fate of contestants rests on the random outcome of a spinning wheel. This wheel of fortune concept dates back to the ancient Middle East. On this cold Yule night, light some candles and pull out an old board game that has a spinning wheel, or else devise one for your-self out of poster board and appropriate items from a craft store. Mark what each section of the poster board wheel means. Keep it simple with sections such as "yes," "no," "perhaps," "get a life," "listen to your inner voice," "not in this lifetime," and any other category you wish. Take turns with friends and family asking questions as they take turns spinning the wheel. As the needle spins around, the spinner should speak one of the following statements, depending on what they want the answer to be. Please say yes, this is my wish come true. Or: Please, kind wheel, I need help from you. Or, if you want a negative answer: Please say no, O Fortune's Wheel. Or: You know my heart and what I feel. |
