Color of the day: Indigo Incense of the day: Pine Incense of the day: Pine Ancient Greece celebrated the festival of Panathenaea on this day to honor the goddess Athena. Create an incense on this, the goddess of wisdom's day, that is designed to enhance your powers of foresight and concentration. Start by combining one tablespoon of powdered benzoin resin, two teaspoons sandalwood powder, one teaspoon of powdered frankincense resin, one teaspoon of crushed lavender flowers, and one-half teaspoon of powdered rosemary. Blend together the ingredients in your mortar and pestle, then add three drops white wine. Burn the resulting incense on hot charcoal disks in a heat-proof bowl or cauldron. When invoking Athena, slightly sweet vanilla fragrances are called for. Therefore, light some vanilla or sandalwood candles, and spray some labdanum/amber (also known as Peru balsam) perfume around the room. To make some Athena perfume oil, to an almond oil base add four parts sandalwood essential oil, two parts Peru balsam, two parts tonka bean essential oil, and one part patchouli essential oil. |
