The month of January is named after Janus, the two-headed god who faces both the future and the past. His symbol is the threshold. For this spell, you will need a small cake, a goblet of wine, and a sheet of fine paper. Fold the paper in half lengthwise. On one half of the paper, write the things you learned and accomplished from the prior year. On the other half, write your goals for the new year. Cast your circle. Offer the cake and say:

Great god Janus, with this offering of cake, I pray thee.
Be generous to me, my household, and my family.

Offer the wine and say:

O Father Janus, as I have prayed thee good prayers in offering these gifts.
For the same object let this offering of wine succeed.

Burn the paper with your past and future.
