Color of the day: White Incense of the day: Musk Incense of the day: Musk Each May my grandfather would plant corn. After the tasseled stalks grew, I would play among the corn rows with my faithful spaniel at my side. Surrounded by the corn and with a blue Midwestern sky overhead, I felt secure. Using this ritual will allow you to also draw upon the protective power of the Corn Maiden. On your altar, place three candles-one each of green, yellow, and brown; also place a small dish of yellow cornmeal next to the candles. Light the candles, saying: Corn Maiden, Mother and Crone, Protect my family, hearth, and home. Raise the cornmeal, and continue: Please accept this humble offering to you. I ask for security and bounty in all that is yet to come. Conclude by sprinkling the cornmeal outdoors, so the birds and other wild things may share your offering. |
