Color of the day: Silver Incense of the day: Maple Rituals of release and cleansing are traditionally practiced by observant Jews on this Day of Atone-ment (Yom Kippur). It is thought to be a time of judgment and new beginnings. In the spirit of starting fresh and preparing for the winter days of reflection and release, you can honor the traditions of Yom Kippur with this spell. To start, place three candle holders with white candles on a cloth that represents your hopes and dreams for the coming year. Open a window, so that the energies will easily depart from you, and light the first candle, saying:
I light this white candle to free me of all vows, oaths, and promises that I have made, but have been unable to fulfill in the past year. May all these pass into the universe as simple wishes for a better time. May they be released and cleansed.
Light the second candle, and say:
I light this white candle to burn away these commitments. May these vows, oaths, and promises melt on the wind as if they were never uttered. May this release my spirit from any obligations that may have been drawn to me.
Light the third candle, and say:
I light this white candle to begin anew, to dedicate myself to the finest that is in me. May the universe be blessed by my presence within it. My spirit is true |
